The PreK 1 Room
Welcome to the PreK 1 Room!    This room is for our preK 1 children.   The ages in this room start at about 2 1/2 and go to about 3 1/2 or potty trained.   These children are ready to advance on with their learning.   They will continue building on the skills they started on in the toddler room.    Reports on your child's day and progress are sent home at the end of each day.
Daily Activites

Children in this room are exposed to art in the form of painting, coloring, glueing and cutting.     They listen to and make music.     They will continue to learn more complex songs, rhymes, and games.     Colors, shapes, alphabet and numbers are worked on.    Group interaction and cooperation are also taught and encouraged.     Recognition of their own name and that of their classmates is also taught.     Circle time is done for longer periods due to the extended attention span.     Individual reading is encouraged.     We have a selection of books that they can choose from.     Our toys are washed on a regular basis.     We provide dramatic play toys in each room.     Motor skills, both large and small, are encouraged and helped at each level of development.     Children also have outside time where they can utilize a variety of equipment to improve their motor skills.     The preK children have their own seperate play ground outsite.

What's Provided

We will provide each child with diapers, wipes, blankets and bedding.   The children do not share blankets or bedding.   These are washed on a weekly basis or more if needed.   The toddler rooms are sanitized and cleaned on a daily basis.

Group Leaders and Room Ratios

The ratio for our preK room is and 5 to 1.   The Group Leaders are CPR and First Aid certified.

Visiting Nurse

Once a month we have a nurse visit the center.    She is a Registered Pediatric RN.    She monitors each child's development and will address any concerns the center or parents may have.

Security

Our main building is equiped with panic bars at each exit.    This allows us to keep the doors locked from the outside at all times.    No one is allowed to enter unless we open the door for them.    However, from the inside the doors are kept unlocked during all hours of operation.    All designated parties picking up a child for the first time, that have not been introduced to the staff by the director, will have to show photo ID before the child will be released to them.
